What Industry Grease Is & Isn’t

Industry Grease is a private, collaborative platform where individuals from every segment of The Bicycle Industry come together to ask questions, share ideas, and learn from each other on a grand scale. No matter the size, shape, or age of the shop or business, each member has an equal opportunity to share & receive feedback we can all learn from. The goal here isn’t just to increase ridership or ‘survive’ the forever turbulent marketplace. We’re here to find manageable ways we can better serve the consumer so in turn, they can better serve us. We aren’t here to promote brands nor are we here to point fingers and blame. We’re here to come up with solutions based on what we have to work with, and grow from there.

Who we share your data with

Outside of internal uses, general things like spam filters, and other things websites use to keep everyone’s information safe from things like scammers, marketers, and the overreaching government, we do not share any of the data we gather with anyone outside of Industry Grease or its friends. We may discuss an accumulation of information gathered from members (like regional shifts, or supply chain fluctuations) to create content internally as well as with some of our partnerships.

For users who register on our website, we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username which is the legal or personal name they commonly go by). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request that we erase any personal data we hold about you though this may require we delete your account without any refund. This does not include any content you provide or data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes. Still, we have chosen to use trusted systems at a higher cost, including a paywall, to secure your privacy in the best way we know how.

Where we send your data

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service but that’s pretty much it. Outside of that, Industry Grease is not here to profit from selling your personal data to suppliers or others looking to leverage your information. Industry Grease may use information gained through members’ locations, categorical information, comments, surveys, and other collections of data to gather & share valuable information on Industry Grease-owned platforms and occasionally through industry partnerships that would never include any specifics to individuals or businesses they’re associated with. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us directly.
